Every load sends warm, damp air and fine lint through your dryer vent to the outside. The lint trap catches a good share, but some always slips past and sticks to the inside of the hose and duct, especially at bends.
As that lint builds, air struggles to escape. Clothes take longer to dry, the dryer runs hotter and the lint itself becomes fuel. Dryer vent fires are a well known household risk, which is why keeping the vent clear matters.
Calgary winters add a twist. Exterior vent hoods can ice up or get packed with snow and lint, trapping even more moisture. We clean from the dryer to the outside hood so the whole path is clear.
