Honeycomb shades, also called cellular shades, are built from fabric folded into small air pockets. Those pockets add a layer of insulation between your room and the cold glass, which many homeowners notice on the coldest Calgary nights, especially near older or larger windows.

A popular option is top-down bottom-up. You can lower the shade from the top to let light in high while keeping privacy at street level, a favourite for bedrooms, bathrooms and front rooms close to the sidewalk.

Honeycomb shades come in light filtering and blackout versions, and in single or double cell styles. They stack very compactly when raised, so they keep a clean look at the top of the window.
