Because they are out of sight, they are easy to forget, but they handle every breath of air your furnace moves.
Over time, the return side in particular collects a layer of dust, hair, lint and the odd lost toy. Clean registers and replace covers
Vent covers are wiped and put back in place, and we check that airflow feels right.
